Ensuring that Single-Patient surgical instruments (SiP’s) are only used once is a necessity in order to guarantee clinical performance of the SiP’s and to reduce risks of contamination. The plastic sheath deforms itself if the instrument is autoclaved, thereby preventing its reuse, even if the sheath is removed.
